Ruth Peterson

Ruth Doris Peterson, age 90, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away June 9, 2010 at the Osceola Good Samaritan Society in Osceola.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola with Pastor Clifford Hoper officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.Ruth was born May 19, 1920 to John Oscar and Sigrid (Johnson) Boden. She graduated from Osceola High School in 1937 and then taught District 61 Crackerbox country school west of Osceola.
On August 21, 1943 Ruth was united in marriage to Herman Gust Eklund. To this union two sons were born, Don and Bob.
In the late 1950's Ruth began working at the ASCS Office in Osceola, retiring in the early 1980's.
On May 28, 1972 she was united in marriage to Rexford H. Peterson. They resided in Shelby until she moved to the Osceola Good Samaritan Society on August 30, 2005 where she resided until her passing.
She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola and was active in many of the church's activities.
She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, baking and cooking.
Survivors include one son Bob (Linda) Eklund of Grand Island; daughter-in-law Julie McMeekin of Albion; six grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one step-great grandchild; step-children Dan (Yvonne) Peterson and family of Peoria, AZ, Randy (Kay) Peterson and family of Shelby; step-daughter Debbie (Gaylen) Schmoker of Shelby; one step-daughter-in-law Marlene Peterson of Shelby and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Herman Eklund and Rexford Peterson; one son Don Eklund; one step-son Jerry Peterson; sisters Frances I. Carlson Sandell and Margaret Buresh.
