Merna Genevive Johnson Nowell, age 100, of Stromsburg, Nebraska, formerly of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away August 8, 2010 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Kerry Relihan and Pastor Willis Pauls officiating. Interment was in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola had been entrusted with arrangements.
Survivors include sisters Rogene Dickson, Shirley Morris, Coral Boden, Wanda (Myron) Larson all of Stromsburg; sister-in-law Rea Mae Johnson of Stromsburg; a host of nieces, nephews, and many Alaskan friends.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert Nowell; parents Eli and Isle Johnson; brothers Clifton Johnson, Curtis Johnson and Rolland Johnson; sisters Blanche Schofield, Elnore Hanson, Margaret Andel and Bonnie Beth Johnson, both of whom died in infancy.
