Hazel M. Vandegrift

Hazel Mae (Rouse) Vandegrift, age 87,  of Stromsburg, Nebraska was born to Horace and Beatrice (Winchell) Rouse on the family farm 17 miles north of O'Neill, Nebraska on August 21, 1922. She passed June 19, 2010, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.
Funeral services was held June 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg with Pastor Robert Perry officiating. Visitation was held Wednesday, June 23 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg.   Interment was in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola had been entrusted with arrangements.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Beatrice Rouse, mother-in-law and husband, Bertha Fisher and Walter Fisher, husband Bob Vandegrift; sister Rose Willard and her husband Wilbur Willard and their daughters Karen and Rhonda Willard; brother Bernard Rouse; sister-in-law and husband Letha and Clinton Bahensky; brothers-in-law Roy Wike, Evans (Lois) Vandegrift, Howard (Lillian) Vandegrift and sisters-in-law Neva (Vandegrift) White and Beth (Vandegrift) Bierhaus.
Left to cherish her memory include son Tom Vandegrift and wife Debbie of Lincoln; daughter Margaret and husband Rex Rasmussen of York; granddaughter Elizabeth Rasmussen and fiancé Doug Gilbert of Omaha; grandson Steve Rasmussen of Kearney; sister Kathryn Wike of Delta Junction, Alaska; nieces, nephews and many very, very special friends.
