Genevieve “Gen” R. Hanus, age 92, of Lincoln, formerly of David City, passed away in Lincoln. Services will be held Friday, May 2, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in David City. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Mary Cemetery in rural Bellwood. Chermok Funeral Home in David City is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her son John (Penne) Hanus of Lincoln; daughters Kay (Mel) Cihal of Dwight, Connie (Don) Johnson of Lincoln and Karen (Paul) Steffensmeier of Fremont, WI; sister Bertha Hilger of Kingsley, IA; sisters-in-law Ludy Birkel of David City, Sr. Marietta Hanus, OSF of Milwaukee, WI, Clara Meysenburg of David City and Rita Meysenburg of Omaha, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1983, two children Jeanne Hanus and Gerald Hanus, infant brother Herman and brother John Hanus, and three sisters Caroline Birkel, Angeline Sutter and Josephine Albers.
