Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Quandt and Boy Scout Troop #241 of Stromsburg would like to announce the achievement of Eagle Scout by Kory Lee Quandt.
Kory earned his Arrow of Light and crossed over into the world of Boy Scouting in May 2002. He earned 21 merit badges and earned his Eagle Scout rank in May 2009. Kory provided leadership to the troop by serving as Quartermaster, Patrol Leader, Chaplain, and Senior Patrol Leader. In the summer of 2004, he was tapped into the Order of the Arrow and completed his ordeal that same summer.
During high school, Kory was also active in 4-H, the Free Church Youth group, the worship band, the AWANA ministry as a Junior Leader and earned his AWANA Citation award. He also went on a one-week mission trip to New Orleans with the Free Church Youth Group, where they ministered to young children with a Vacation Bible School program.
For his Eagle Scout project, Kory drew the plans, obtained materials, and organized help to build bird feeders for the Midwest Covenant Home.
After graduation from Sonshine Christian Homeschool in May 2009, Kory will be attending UNL as a pre-pharmacy student. He has been awarded the Nebraska Achievement Scholarship, the Susan Thompson Buffet Scholarship, Pepsi Student Leadership Scholarship and a Walmart Scholarship.
Kory's Court of Honor will be held Sunday, July 5th at 3:00 p.m. at the Stromsburg Evangelical Free Church. The public is invited to attend.
