Construction is nearly finished on the new facility at Osceola Implement and Supply, located on Hwy. 81/92. All operations are now up and running in the new building, and employees are enjoying the spacious rooms and adequate display and storage areas for Agco products, parts and equipment.
The Davidsons are more than pleased with their new dealership. "It's been a long time coming," commented Carlie, "but we're finally getting there. We moved the computer and telephone systems on February 20, 2010, so that's when all of our employees officially began working in the new building."
Groundbreaking on the new 70' x 235' facility began in June 2008 right after the flood. The new building was constructed over the old structure, and the old part was torn down and removed as soon as the each part of the new facility was ready to be utilized.
The new shop has been in use since May of 2009. The parts department was then moved into the old shop area where they have operated until about a month ago. The majority of the parts were stored in the house across the street east of the Implement since November 2007. That house was burned down by the Osceola Fire Department on February 28, 2010, and now that property is being used to display combines and other large equipment.
Mary Davidson agreed to come out of retirement and help move and organize the parts in the new facility. Mike Richardson, retired area Agco manager from Bee, NE, also comes every day to assist Mary with the parts department. Since January of this year, Mary and Mike have moved each and every part, piece by piece, box by box, to its new home in a drawer or on a shelf.
All in all, the new building is in full operation. As you enter from the north, you walk into a large display area and open showroom. The extra large parts counter allows many customers to be assisted at once. An upper level "cat walk" surrounds the room and will be used to display various Agco products and small equipment.
The remainder of the facility houses ample office spaces, parts storage rooms, handicapped accessible restrooms, display areas, a break room and conference/training rooms. The shipping/receiving area is located on the south side of the building. It features a huge overhead door and a crane which allows oversized parts to be raised to the upper level of the building for storage.
Shop employees are enjoying their spacious new work area which is large enough to hold several combines and tractors. The overhead crane has also been an asset for the shop technicians. The heated floors in the shop have been greatly appreciated by the workers this winter.
Phase II of the building project will begin as soon as the frost comes out of the ground. This will involve the completion of sales and accounting offices and an indoor wash bay area on the east end of the facility. The old building will once again be covered and removed from underneath as construction continues.
The Davidsons are proud to have used local contractors for their building project. Custom Quality Builders was the main contractor for the building construction. Randy Urban did all of the dirt work, Boruch Masonry was in charge of the concrete work, Gary's Plumbing took care of the plumbing needs, and Johansen Repair installed the heat/air conditioning.
Todd and Carlie currently employ nine other employees and are searching for qualified workers to join the Osceola Implement & Supply team. Jobs are available in all positions. If interested, contact Todd or Carlie at (402) 747-2371 or stop in and visit with them in person.
"We would like to thank our loyal customers for their patience throughout our construction process," Carlie said. "It's been a trying time for all of us. Hopefully our new changes will help us to better accommodate our customers in all capacities."
"We've been in business at Osceola Implement & Supply for the past 40+ years and we plan to be around to serve our customers for another 40+ years to promote Agco products and equipment," Todd added.
The public is invited to Osceola Implement & Supply on Friday, March 26, 2010 for an Open House of their new facility. Tours of the dealership will be offered all day and refreshments will be served.
Come celebrate with the Davidson family as they promote their improved business and provide job opportunities to Osceola and the surrounding communities.
