Pinnacle Bank and Annie Jeffrey Health Center are teaming up to encourage their employees, along with local citizens, to take a 30 minute walk on their lunch break on Wednesday, April 30th. They will be joining tens of thousands of Americans across the country participating in the second annual National Walk @ Lunch Day. We will be meeting in front of the bank in Osceola to start our walks anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Stop by to pick up your T-shirt prior to your walk. We hope to see you all there in your walking shoes!
Chairpersons for the event are April Neujahr of Pinnacle Bank, and Cindy Branting of Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center.
National Walk @ Lunch Day is a workplace walking program that encourages people take time during their lunch breaks to start walking toward better health. Most American schedules are built around the workday, so National Walk @ Lunch Day is designed to fit into - not compete with - the daily routine. Many employers are supporting National Walk @ Lunch Day by encouraging their workforces to participate.
The national walking effort is the next step of Walking Works, a Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association program to help Americans live healthier lives and reduce unnecessary medical costs due to physical inactivity. The Walking Works program was developed in partnership with the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.
