Dorothy Larson Named Super Swede 2009

Dorothy Larson was named the 2009 Super Swede Friday evening in the town square. Her son, Allen Larson read the following about his mother:
Dorothy Larson, our Super Swede for 2009, began her volunteering career many years ago. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 40 years at the Evangelical Free Church in Stromsburg, while also being an AWANA leader for 20 years. She sang in the church choir and was active in Women's Missionary Society and White Cross. She volunteered with the Swedish Smorgasbord for 16 years.
Dorothy owned and operated the Bit of Sweden restaurant for 32 years. She sold it 16 years ago and then started volunteering at Midwest Covenant Home. At almost 93 years old, she continues her weekly volunteer duties which have included watering plants, calling Bingo, recycling cards, serving ice cream and making her wonderful cookies that are favorites of the staff and residents. She also helps at the Assisted Living facility.
Dorothy also spends time with her family consisting of three children, nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
