Earl Vaughn Wieseman, age 89, of Osceola, Nebraska, passed away June 9, 2010 at Osceola Good Samaritan Society.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola with Pastor Clifford Hoper officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, June 10 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will be in the Osceola Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements.
Earl was born May 5, 1921 to George A. and Addie Luella (McCormick) Wieseman northwest of Osceola in Polk County. He was baptized May 5, 1923. He attended country school northwest of Osceola and graduated from Osceola High School in 1938. Following high school he began his career on the farm.
In August of 1942 he was drafted in the Army and served in the Aleutians for the duration of WWII. After returning home to Osceola he continued to farm until he retired in the early 80's.
On June 29, 1972 he was united in marriage to Pauline Mautz in Grand Island.
Earl enjoyed sports, Big Red football, "cutting the rug" at area ballrooms, coffee time with his buddies and teasing his grandchildren. He was a great friend, a great dad and the best grandpa ever.
He was a member of the Osceola American Legion Post #91, and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife Pauline of Osceola, daughters Paula (Steve) Darling of Tecumseh and Daylene (Karl) Kollmorgen of Lincoln; son Dayle "Bud" (Teri) Mautz of Lincoln; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Addie; three brothers, Bill, Bud and Harold; and one sister Fern Mulgrue.
