RPPD Works Overtime on Holiday Weekend
According to George Lyons, CEO of Polk County Rural Public Power District, they had “all hands on deck” over the New Year weekend, as an ice storm blanketed the area, leaving several homes and businesses without power. By Sunday morning at 4:00 a.m., approximately 500 PCRPPD customers had reported a loss of power. Power crews worked 18 hours on Sunday and 14 hours on Monday to restore power in the area. By Monday evening, approximately 22 customers still remained without power.
“Power outages were scattered across the system,” Lyons commented, “no certain areas were concentrated.”
Polk County Rural Public Power District was hoping to have power completely restored in Polk County by 2:30 on Tuesday. After this goal was met, Lyons sent all his linemen home for some well-deserved rest.
Hats off to all employees at Polk County Rural Public Power District for a job well done! Your hard work and prompt attention was greatly appreciated!
